Team Zimbabwe is organised by YASD, a non-profit making, community organisation that uses soccer to teach children and youths about HIV/AIDS prevention, self confidence and drug and alcohol abuse. Currently they involve 20 teams and 400 marginalised youth in Harare Epworth, Mbare, Arda and Mabvuku wth the ambition to start a street soccer league for Social Inclusion in Harare with street soccer pitches and sports equipment. More than 1000 street-soccer lovers thronged the Hatcliffe Shopping Center grounds on April 26 to witness the national street soccer showcase that was still relatively novel to some of the spectators.The event ran from 10 am to 4.30pm and the games ended with one National Team being recognized as the 2008 Team to represent Zimbabwe in the Melbourne 2008 Homeless World Cup 1-7 December 2008.

The project responsible for the national Zimbabwe team is currently based in Hatcliffe, one of the most impoverished suburbs of Harare.
