It is not known how many people are homeless in Aoteraoa/New Zealand, but Street Football Aotearoa does know that our football projects help many homeless and marginalised people to participate more fully in society.

Wellington's Street Football team took the honours in Saturday's Street Football National Championships. The inaugural tournament saw teams representing Auckland, Christchurch, Dunedin and the Capital compete as part of Wellington City Council's Festival of Football - a curtain-raiser for the All Whites World Cup Qualifier.

Homelessness and street homelessness is an issue that affects all of us at some stage or another in our lives, and more often than not, it is through no fault of our own that we end up in this situation. I became homeless at the age of 15 when my father sold our house but it is only just recently (within the last 11 months) that I have experienced living rough or been street homeless...

Football is alive in Wellington, and as part of Wellington City Council’s Festival of Football for the FIFA under 17 Women’s World Cup, Wellingtonians had the opportunity to support Street Football Aotearoa through a fundraising street football competition and film screening.
