Nigeria (15) v (0) India
By Claire Varley.
Nigeria remain undefeated after powering through to a 15-0 win over a hard working India.
Setting the pace with a goal in the first 20 seconds of the match, Nigeria kept up a relentless attack on Indian goals. Extensive team passing and use of the wall, saw a frantic hustle in the Nigerian end, resulting in six goals before half time. A strong Nigerian attack put the Indian defence to work, with Indian keeper Himkant Ramkrishna Surandase doing a valiant job of stopping the bombardment on goals. 7-0 at half time, the Nigerian team offered thanks to the supportive crowd as they went into the second half.
India came back with a tight defence and determined attack, firing off a series of attempts on goal which were defended magnificently by the Nigerian keeper. Doing all the right things, amazing speed and strong team work saw Nigeria claim eight more goals, including one from Chioma Grace Edoziem that was followed by a series of excited cartwheels. Despite the dominance of the Nigerian attack, India kept fighting until the end, with a run of frantic attempts on goal. The 15-0 result saw Nigeria thank their crowd with more cartwheels and a celebratory dance, which may or may not have been a kangaroo in recognition of their Australian audience.
